Dr. Frank Mason wins the 2026 PaintScape™ TAP Grant Award

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Frank Mason (Assistant Professor of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center) has been awarded the PaintScape TAP (Technology Access Program) Grant Award for his application titled, “Spatial Genomics Approach to Understanding Chromosome Instability-Driven Heterogeneity”.

Research in the Frank Mason Lab focuses on the causes and consequences of genomic instability in cancer, with a particular emphasis on errors in cell division, chromosomal integrity, and epigenetic dysfunction.

To investigate these problems, his lab utilizes cell biology, biochemical, genetic, and genomic approaches in kidney cancer and leukemia to identify mechanisms of genetic heterogeneity and evolution in cancer.

Dr. Mason will apply the PaintScape platform to:

Quantify genomic instability and heterogeneity at single-cell resolution
Identify chromosomes preferentially prone to chromosomal instability
Map genomic loci susceptible to rearrangement, translocation, or inversion
“We are thrilled to win the TAP Grant Award,” said Dr. Mason. “The PaintScape technology fills a critical gap in our ability to study chromosomal instability and its role in the development of cancer.”

The PaintScape System is a new groundbreaking platform designed to directly visualize the 3D genome in situ in single cells.

Thank you to all applicants and congratulations to Dr. Mason

Thank you to all the applicants for participating in the TAP Grant contest and congratulations to Dr. Mason on his successful proposal. We look forward to seeing the exciting discoveries uncovered through your project.
